A ticket broker may not even be able to help you if you want to attend Gov.-elect Laura Kelly’s inaugural ball.

Tickets for the event sold out in about a week after going on sale in mid-December.

About 1,900 are expected at the event, scheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Kansas Expocentre. The Kelly transition team reports a waiting list of about 150 for tickets.

After selling out, the inaugural committee secured a connecting space in Landon Arena to accommodate additional tables and seating. That space is also sold out.

The inaugural committee may release additional tickets after Jan. 4 should the space become available, a spokeswoman said.

The committee sold gold packages for $3,000, giving buyers a premium table with 10 seats and six tickets to a VIP reception with the new governor and lieutenant governor.

There also were silver and bronze packages available, each with 10-seat tables. A silver package cost $2,000, and a bronze package went for $1,500.

A silver package gave four admissions to the VIP reception, and a bronze package gave two admissions to the reception.

Kelly will be sworn in earlier in the day at 11 a.m. on the south lawn of the state Capitol.
