Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kris Kobach on Tuesday launched a new statewide television ad campaign featuring President Donald Trump.
The Kobach campaign says it is spending $50,000 on cable and satellite broadcasts on the campaign, which emphasizes the candidate’s relationship with the president.
Trump has figured prominently in the Republican U.S. Senate primary, similar to the 2018 governor’s race when the president’s tweet backing Kobach was credited with tipping the primary in his favor.
Congressman Roger Marshall, Senate President Susan Wagle and businessman Dave Lindstrom, have embraced the president as they woo GOP voters.
The Kobach campaign is using footage from Trump’s appearance in Topeka during the governor’s race when the president heaped praise on the former Kansas secretary of state.
It’s been unclear in recent months, however, just how much support Kobach has from the White House after losing the governor’s race.
