Bankers launch nonprofit to fight government overreach; Marshall credit card bill targeted

Kansas bankers are forming a nonprofit to battle federal and state legislation they believe threatens the free market, including a congressional proposal that addresses swipe fees paid by merchants for processing credit card transactions.

The Kansas Bankers Association is investing six figures in a new 501(c)(4) nonprofit called Free Market Kansans that it will use to fight "against harmful legislation that would limit Kansans’ financial choices" and puts the free market at risk.

"We continue to see an unfortunate trend of bad policies coming out of Washington, but some of them...are not just federal, they're federal . . .
