Parimutuel horse racing poised to return to Kansas in fall

Within two about months, the thunder of pounding hoof beats on a dirt track will return to Kansas after state regulators have given approval for the oldest surviving racetrack west of the Mississippi at Eureka Downs to start racing this October.

The state's Racing and Gaming Commission has approved Eureka Downs to start racing horses for the first time since 2010 and breathe life into an industry that has languished in Kansas for more than a decade.
