(Updated to reflects comments from Suhn)

Kristian Van Meteren has taken full control of the Singularis Group political consulting firm, splitting ways with partner Jared Suhn.

The company announced Friday that Van Meteren had consolidated 100% ownership of the Overland Park firm, which had worked on behalf of scores of conservative candidates and helped pilot Sam Brownback’s 2014 re-election campaign.

Its clients have included the Kansas State Rifle Association, the House Majority Leader’s Office and the Kansas Chamber of Commerce’s political action committee.

“When nearly 20 years ago, Jared Suhn and I launched this company in my East Topeka basement, few had any idea what it would grow into or how instrumental it would become in impacting the political landscape across America,” Van Meteren said in a statement.

“Over the years, the firm has received numerous honors and accolades for the quality of its work,” he said.

“However, I consider our greatest achievement to be the hundreds of conservative candidates we’ve helped elect to public office and the scores of right-leaning organizations we’ve helped to advance their agendas.  That work is far from finished and will continue for the foreseeable future.”

Suhn said his departure is not the result of any kind of disagreement with Van Meteren. It more reflects his intention to expand his horizons.

The firm deals primarily in direct mail and Suhn said he wants to explore other opportunities with a broader array of platforms, whether its television, digital advertising, lobbying or general political consulting.

He is still committed to his current stable of clients through 2020, including Sara Hart Weir’s campaign for Congress in the Kansas 3rd District.

“I still have a deep passion and commitment to leaving our nation in a better place than we found it,” Suhn wrote in a letter to clients and friends. “This is the right moment for me to take the plunge into new possibilities and find fresh ways to continue making a difference.

“I can’t imagine that wherever my next journey leads me that our paths won’t cross and that my commitment to fight for our shared values will not wane,” he wrote.

Van Meteren credited Suhn for the role he played in helping the company  emerge as a player in the political scene.

“Jared Suhn has played a tremendous role in shaping this company and the political environment in which it operates,” Van Meteren said. “Our heartfelt thanks and best-wishes are with him as he launches a new chapter in his life and career.”
