The state's elections director said Thursday that financial resources can determine the level of local election security, agreeing with a state audit that reached a similar conclusion.
Addressing the special committee on elections Thursday, Bryan Caskey agreed with the audit's finding that the level of election security can hinge on funding.
"Oftentimes, county resources - or the lack of county resources - drive the level of security that is employed by a county," Caskey said.
"Absolutely, there are counties that have very secure facilities that are in-house and no one has access other than election employees," he said.
