The Kansas Livestock Association is endorsing the idea of electing members of the state commission that regulates utilities, potentially reviving a debate that first surfaced in Kansas nearly two years ago.
At their recent annual business meeting, Livestock Association members passed a resolution that called for electing members of the Kansas Corporation Commission, which is now appointed by the governor with confirmation of the Senate.
The resolution further stated that electing commissioners "would more closely reflect the values of Kansas citizens."
