More than 600 businesses across Kansas will not have to pay into the Insurance Department's workers’ compensation fund this upcoming year, saving an estimated $3 million.
Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt on Thursday announced that insurance carriers, group-funded workers’ compensation pools and self-insured businesses will not be hit with assessment for the fiscal year starting July 1.
The cost to companies varies since the amount they pay into the fund is calculated based on the assessment rate set by the department multiplied by the company’s paid losses.
