Kobach hires new chief deputy

Kurtis Wiard, former chief legal counsel at the Kansas Department of Parks and Wildlife, has moved over to the attorney general's office where he's been named the new chief deputy.

Attorney General Kris Kobach named him to the position after he had worked at parks and wildlife since 2024.

Wiard, who recently was a candidate for a federal judgeship in Kansas, returns to the office where he  previously worked as an assistant solicitor general for six years under former Solicitor General Anthony Powell in the attorney general’s office.

Wiard previously worked as a research attorney for Kansas . . .
