Funding for the arts gained momentum in the Legislature on Thursday when a House committee agreed to put more into the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission.
The House Appropriations Committee approved adding another roughly $310,000 for the arts, which has seen state funding plummet from about $1.7 million a decade ago. It's now at about $190,000.
