Kobach demands cities repeal conversion therapy bans

Republican Attorney General Kris Kobach is demanding that three Kansas cities repeal laws banning conversion therapy, saying that they violate the First Amendment.

Kobach sent letters to three cities - Lawrence, Prairie Village and Roeland - directing them to take action within 60 days.

“The First Amendment applies to everyone – therapists, patients and everyone else," Kobach said.

"A city violates the constitution when it attempts to forbid a therapist from providing the counseling that the therapist believes is in the best interest of the patient . . .
