Kansas Democratic Party Chairman John Gibson has announced he will not seek re-election as the party's leader at this year's Washington Days convention.
The party's vice chair, Vicki Hiatt, said on Facebook she plans to run for the party chair at the convention set for March 1 and 2 in Topeka.
In a post on Facebook today, Gibson said he was proud to step aside as chairman after seeing the election of a new Democratic governor and Democratic congresswoman in the 3rd Congressional District.
