Republican Barbara Wasinger held on to defeat Democratic state Rep. Eber Phelps after a recount today.
Wasinger ended up defeating Phelps, 4,341 to 4,306, the Hays Post reported tonight. Wasinger’s win means that Democrats and Republicans each lost five seats in the election.
The Republicans would now control 85 seats, including 52 conservatives. The Democrats will hold 40 seats.
The recount in House District 111 was the second this cycle.
Republican Kenneth Collins prevailed over Democratic state Rep. Adam Lusker in House District 2 after recount in Crawford County late last week.
Crawford County did a hand recount after inadvertently tallying votes in five precincts twice.
