Republican legislators Blaine Finch and Kyle Hoffman are campaigning for speaker pro tem in the House.
Finch, an Ottawa lawyer, and Hoffman, a Coldwater rancher, have sent letters to House members seeking support for the position that presides over the chamber when the speaker is absent.
Elected to the House in 2012, Finch is promising GOP House members fairness and support that will help them succeed. He also says his word is his bond.
"Leadership is about keeping promises," Finch wrote in his letter. "You deserve leadership in Topeka that knows the value of a promise and willing to keep . . .
