Good morning everyone:

Well, the dog days of August are here, and state political news has slowed to a crawl with the exception of local elections from last week that saw some familiar faces from the  Legislature on the primary ballot, such as former state Reps. Brandon Whipple, Brett Parker, and state Rep. Robyn Essex. Beyond that, there weren't a lot of major political news happenings last week, so this week's roundup will seem a little on the dry side. So, let's cover the significant stories we published last week and other news you may have missed . . .
