Senators are trying to preserve a state tax credit created to encourage construction of affordable housing in Kansas.
The Senate is negotiating with the House over a bill eliminating the program, although the legislation was amended to protect housing investments for 2023, 2024 and 2025 that were awarded tax credits.
The House voted 85-36 to eliminate the program, which was enacted in 2022 to jump-start the housing market in rural Kansas.
The Senate offered a compromise proposal . . .
