A package of reforms intended to corral the middlemen who manage prescription drug plan benefits for insurers and employers overwhelmingly cleared the Kansas Senate.
The bill, which supporters say could hold down prescription drug prices and help independent pharmacies better compete, passed the Senate on a 32-8 vote Wednesday.
Opponents say it imposes price controls and subsidizes the insurance industry that will later raise prices anyway.
