The Kansas House on Tuesday approved a bill banning cellphones in public and accredited private schools, overcoming objections that it interfered with the autonomy of nonpublic schools and stepped on the authority of public school districts.
The House voted 75-48 to pass the bill with a mix of Republicans and Democrats joining either side of the issue for mixed reasons.
The bill now goes to the Senate, which only needs to concur with the House version . . .
