Republican state Rep. Eric Smith is serving out his last term in the Kansas House, revealing late Tuesday he would not return to the Legislature.

Smith was among eight House members who bid farewell to the chamber, although several others could return next year as senators.

"I've been here for eight years. I can't hold it back any more. I'm going to leave," Smith told the chamber.
