Former President Barack Obama on Friday morning handed out a series of endorsements, including six in Kansas.

Obama endorsed Democratic Congresswoman Sharice Davids in the 3rd District and Topeka Mayor Michelle De La Isla in the Congressional District.

He also endorsed candidates in four Kansas statehouse races.

He backed Democrats Jo Ella Hoye in House District 17, Mari-Lynn Poskin in House District 20, Jennifer Day in House District 48 and former Kansas Democratic Party official Ethan Corson in Senate District 7.

“I’m proud to endorse these outstanding Democratic candidates who will work to get the virus under control, rebuild the economy and the middle class, and protect Americans’ health care and preexisting conditions protection,” Obama tweeted shortly after 8 a.m

Hoye is running against Republican Kristine Sapp for the seat now held by outgoing state Rep. Tom Cox.

Poskin is running in the district now represented by Republican Jan Kessinger, who lost his primary to Jane Dirks.

Day now represents District 48 after she was picked to replace former state Rep. Dave Benson, who resigned earlier this year.

She is running against Republican Terry Frederick.

Corson, the former executive director of the Kansas Democratic Party, is running against former Mission Mayor Laura McConwell.

Corson worked in two senior positions in the Commerce Department in the Obama administration.

He first served as a senior adviser to U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, and then as chief of staff of the International Trade Administration.

Overall, Obama endorsed 140 candidates from 21 states.
