Lawmakers want to explore the possibility of allowing cities to opt out of emergency orders similar to the one Gov. Laura Kelly imposed for wearing masks.
Counties can now opt out of the governor's health orders or adopt a less stringent requirement. Roughly 90 of state's 105 counties didn't agree to the mask order.
The governor has said the local option has stymied her administration's ability to take a comprehensive approach to arresting the spread of the coronavirus.
