Local World Cup organizers seek funding from Kansas

Organizers of World Cup activities for Kansas City in 2026 are seeking between $25 million and $30 million from the state of Kansas, which will be on an international stage for one of the world's biggest sporting events.

Representatives from KC2026, the nonprofit overseeing Kansas City's plan for the FIFA World Cup, have been meeting with key political players in Kansas seeking support for an event that could generate $620 million for the entire region.

While the matches will be played at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, the overall event will spin . . .
