The Kansas Senate on Wednesday passed a bill banning counties, joint boards of health or local health officers from prohibiting public gatherings in order to stem the spread of infectious diseases.
The Senate voted 28-12 to pass what amounted to be a scaled back version of "health freedom" legislation that originally started by curtailing the powers of the state health secretary in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
