The Kansas Senate on Wednesday approved a bill expanding a state program intended to encourage school choice by awarding tax credits for donations to private school scholarships.
The Senate bill broadens a program - started in 2015-16 - that gives up to $10 million a year in state tax credits to entice businesses and individuals to donate money to a scholarship program for private schools. The bill was approved 24-16.
