A new audit out on Wednesday revealed that a handful of Kansas school districts spent almost $400,000 in state bilingual education funds in violation of state law, something attributable to a vague statute and lack of clear guidance from the state.
During the 2024-25 school year, the state provided $51 million to school districts statewide to serve 48,000 students who are English language learners.
