A new political action committee affiliated with the Kansas Truth Caucus is forming to elect conservatives to the Kansas Legislature.

The Kansas Truth PAC, headed by former Republican state Rep. Kasha Kelley, will back candidates who support the 10 principles of the Kansas Truth Caucus.

Those principles include opposing abortion, curbing the growth of government, expanding school choice options, limits on government spending, protecting constitutional rights to bear arms and freely exercise religion.

“Kansas Truth PAC supportcandidates who embrace conservative principles beneficial to the health and welfare of our state,” Kelley said.

“This includes advocating for limited, constitutional government, upholding the sanctity of life and lowering the tax burden for families and businesses,” she said.

Although it’s associated with the Truth Caucus,  the new political action committee is comprised of a separate board of non-legislators who will decide endorsements and spending. The group said it would not release a list of its board members.

“Our board members are tested and proven individuals devoted to pro-growth, common sense conservative ideas and defending them in our state Capitol,” Kelley said.

The Truth Caucus, chaired by Republican state Sen. Ty Masterson of Andover, is made up of 40 conservatives lawmakers in the House and the Senate.

PAC organizers said they expect to be involved to some extent in the primary election in “targeted ways” to help candidates who support conservative principles.

The primary election is set for Aug. 7.
