Masterson wants to budget money for southern border

Senate President Ty Masterson says he's planning to add money to the state budget that could be used to send National Guard troops to the border to fight illegal immigration.

Masterson said in an interview that he's looking to add $15 million to the adjutant general's budget that could be used to send the guard to the southern border.

The money is intended to give Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly the ability to call up the guard to aid with controlling illegal immigration on the border.
