Gov. Laura Kelly traveled to southwestern Kansas on Tuesday to call attention to a measles outbreak, urging Kansans to trust the science of vaccines to protect children's health while criticizing lawmakers for undercutting efforts to control contagious diseases.
Reminiscent of the news conferences she held during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kelly along with Dereck Totten, the state’s chief medical officer, held a news conference at Garden City Community College in Finney County where up to five measles cases have been reported.
