When Kansas voters go to the polls in August 2026, they will be asked a simple question.
Should Kansas voters elect justices to the Kansas Supreme Court?
As clear as that is, the constitutional amendment leaves other questions unanswered, such as whether the elections would be partisan, would justices be elected from districts and when would seated justices run to keep their current positions.
Trial lawyers who opposed the amendment say there is too little information for voters to decide the issue, while supporters of the amendment say those issues . . .
