Kansas House Speaker Ron Ryckman on Thursday said his chamber would debate a bill on restoring due process rights for teachers this session.
"The body wants it," Ryckman said. "The folks that were elected by the people want to have a debate on it."
Ryckman's comments came after the House overwhelmingly turned back an effort Thursday morning to force a vote on a bill tying together due process rights for teachers and school bullying. Republican leadership wants to deal with the issues separately.
