Four years ago, the state ethics commission had a warning for legislators.
The agency cautioned about the rise of cryptocurrency as a form of campaign contribution that wasn't addressed by state campaign finance law.
"Cryptocurrency campaign contributions, while nonexistent in Kansas so far, are becoming more common elsewhere," the commission said in its 2022 annual report.
"The Kansas Campaign Finance Act does not address cryptocurrency in any form.
