A proposal giving members of the Wildlife and Parks Commission the power to propose rules and regulations cleared a Senate committee on Tuesday.
The Senate agriculture committee signed off on a bill that was broadened to change how the commission is represented, similar to legislation enacted into law last year.
The bill answers a complaint from Attorney General Kris Kobach that members of the wildlife commission were forbidden by state law to propose their own rules.
