A new bill introduced this week would clear the way for state-funded presidential preference primaries, something that's a possibility for the Kansas Republican Party.
The bill introduced Tuesday would give Democrats and Republicans an opportunity to hold a presidential primary. Parties could opt out under the bill.
The Republican Party has been mulling over the idea with newly elected party chair Mike Brown mentioning it as a possibility in a recent newsletter.
Brown said an "extensive discussion" recently started within the party about the pros and cons of a presidential caucus compared to a presidential primary election.
