Livestock Association challenges lesser prairie chicken protections

The Kansas Livestock Association is joining with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and other industry groups to legally challenge environmental protections for the lesser prairie chicken.

The coalition, which also includes the Permian Basin Petroleum Association, filed the lawsuit against the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in the Western District of Texas.

Also named in the lawsuit are U.S. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland and Fish and Wildlife Director Martha Williams.
