Two candidates for state treasurer said they wouldn't use television ads promoting the state's education savings program to leverage their political careers.

A third candidate, however, left open the possibility of being in the ads.

Appearing in a nearly hourlong debate broadcast on KTWU Wednesday night, Democratic state Treasurer Lynn Roger and Libertarian Steve Roberts said they wouldn't star in televison ads promoting the 529 college savings plan that they would oversee if elected.
