The Kansas Supreme Court is questioning whether it can review a lower-court ruling that found that a state campaign finance law was unconstitutionally vague.

Chief Justice Marla Luckert wants the state ethics commission to show why the Supreme Court can hear an appeal of lower-court ruling that threw out a subpoena issued for a Republican-leaning political action committee.

The subpoena was issued as part of a lengthy and wide-ranging investigation into alleged state campaign finance violations.
