Evergy is asking state regulators for permission to potentially recover the cost of discounted electric rates for Panasonic as part of a new contract for supplying power to the state's biggest economic development project.
The utility company and Panasonic have filed an application with the Kansas Corporation Commission seeking approval of a 10-year agreement that would provide the electric vehicle battery manufacturer with electric rates less expensive than what's typically available.
The application doesn't mean Evergy will ask to recover those discounted costs . . .
