The Kansas Senate is poised to approve a bill advocated by Attorney General Kris Kobach banning immigrants living in the United States illegally from receiving most state or local benefits, including instate tuition at higher education institutions.
The Senate - on a voice vote - advanced the bill to final action Tuesday. The bill has been awaiting action in the full Senate since it passed out of a committee last March.
