Kansas may move to special elections as a way to fill vacancies in the U.S. Senate.

Republican state Sen. Caryn Tyson of Parker wants to remove the governor from not only filling vacancies for the U.S. Senate, but also for state insurance commissioner and state treasurer.

Tyson originally proposed handing those vacancy appointments to the political parties, but the attorney general's office warned there could be a constitutional issue for replacing U.S. senators in a similar manner.
