Senate approves confirmations for state wildlife commission

The Kansas Senate late Thursday approved a bill that would require the governor's appointments to the Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commission to be confirmed by the state Senate.

The bill, sponsored by Republican state Sen. Virgil Peck of Havana, prevailed in the Senate on a 24-16 vote.

Peck said the measure is intended to protect the state's constitutional right to hunt, fish and trap wildlife.
