Senate passes new congressional districts

The Kansas Senate on Friday approved a new set of congressional boundaries that gives Democratic Congresswoman Sharice Davids new Republican territory and divides up the Kansas City area between two congressional districts.

The new congressional map - approved three days after it was first introduced - was hotly contested because of how the process unfolded so swiftly and the potential impact it could have on the voting power of Hispanic and Black voters.
