Republicans elect national committeeman, committeewoman

Kansas Republicans on Saturday reelected Mark Kahrs of Wichita as their Republican national committeeman and Wendy Bingesser of Olathe as national committeewoman.

Kahrs turned back a challenge from Republican state Sen. Mark Steffen, a so-called "populist conservative" who ran on his stand against a "liberal COVID narrative" that "stole" freedom and against Republicans he said were too closely aligned with business.

Kahrs defeated Steffen 98-79. He needed 89 votes to win. Kahrs defeated Steffen in the 2nd and 4th Congressional Districts while cleaning up with the party's executive committee. Steffen won in the 1st and 3rd Congressional . . .
