New ads rolled out in governor’s race; broadcast spending approaches $20 million

The Democratic-leaning Kansas Values Institute dropped two new broadcast ads today as the Kansas governor's race heads toward $20 million in broadcast spending this year.

KVI pushed out two new ads Friday, including one that features former Budget Director Duane Goossen and continues to hammer on Attorney General Derek Schmidt for his association with former Gov. Sam Brownback.

Democrats have been pounding on the Brownback theme early on as they try to define Schmidt going into the general election.

Broadcast spending has now reached about $17.7 million through the general election, according to the national ad tracking . . .
