The Kansas Livestock Association on Wednesday came out with its endorsements in legislative and congressional races.

We already know the group backed Republican Gov. Jeff Colyer in the campaign for the GOP nomination in the governor’s race.

The group also has endorsed Republican Congressmen Kevin Yoder in the 3rd District, Ron Estes in the 4th and Roger Marshall in the 1st.

It handed down no endorsement in the 2nd District where seven Republican candidates are vying to face Democrat Paul Davis in the general election.

The association said it “endorses candidates who understand and support Kansas agriculture and specifically the livestock industry.”

The Livestock Association’s list of endorsements in the legislative races is somewhat narrow. It only backed candidates who had a contested primary race, but even then it passed on a number of races.

It did not endorse in some races like the Republican primary between state Rep. Joy Koesten and Kellie Warren in House District 28 or the House District 30 GOP primary between Wendy Bingesser and Colleen Webster.

It also didn’t endorse in the GOP primary in House District 75 that pits state Rep. Mary Martha Good against Will Carpenter.
