Legislature reworks upcoming schedule

The Kansas House and Senate are planning to scale back sessions Tuesday and Wednesday while reshuffling some committee work as the state take steps to address a potential security threat.

Emails from leadership in each chamber show that the House and the Senate leadership have encouraged lawmakers to stay out of the chambers on both days.

House Speaker Ron Ryckman Jr. has told House members that an excused absence will be given to representatives for Tuesday's session.

Roll call will not be taken in the Senate on Tuesday after a clerk in the chamber tested positive for COVID-19 . . .
