Kansas youth homicides reach highest point since ’98

Kansas recorded the highest number of children's homicides in more than 20 years during 2021, a new report shows.

The number of youth murders for Kansans under 18 years old climbed to 32 in 2021, the highest since 1998, according to a review of reports compiled by the Kansas State Child Death Review Board.

There were five homicides resulting from abuse in 2021 and three from gang violence.
