House Speaker Dan Hawkins has named Republican state Rep. Susan Humphries as chair of the House Judiciary Committee.
Humphries replaces Republican state Rep. Fred Patton of Topeka, who is leaving office Oct. 16.
Hawkins also removed Republican state Rep. Mark Schreiber of Emporia as vice chair of the Judiciary Committee.
Schreiber will be replaced by Republican state Rep. Carl Maughan of Colwich.
"Rep. Humphries is a well respected legislator and attorney which will make her an excellent chair of our House Judiciary Committee," Hawkins said in a statement.
"I’m looking forward to her leadership in this capacity next session . . .
