House Democratic leadership on Thursday revealed plans to let Kansas voters decide the fate of Medicaid expansion, trying to break Republican efforts to keep the issue bottled up in the Legislature.
The top Democrats in the House - Minority Leader Tom Sawyer and Assistant Minority Leader Jason Probst - proposed a constitutional amendment to expand Medicaid along with two other constitutional amendments to legalize recreational and medicinal marijuana.
"Republican leadership has actively blocked it at every turn and I think it's time we start turning these things over to Kansans and letting them decide," Probst said of Medicaid expansion.
