Kansas saw the highest number of deaths in at least 41 years during 2020 with COVID-19 contributing to the large increase, a new report shows.
The state recorded 31,667 deaths in 2020, an increase of 15.9% from the year before, an abnormally large increase, according to the state's new vital statistics report.
Data compiled by the state show the increase to be the biggest jump in the death rate since at least 1980.
