Gov. Laura Kelly's administration on Thursday came out in support of a bill that would change how higher education in Kansas is governed by relieving universities from some administrative rules and regulations in an effort to make them more efficient and cost-effective.
The governor's chief of staff, Will Lawrence, appeared before the House Higher Education Budget Committee and offered a couple of amendments to appease reservations expressed by the Board of Regents.
